Friday night just 6 Riders…
The Ride Captain Garry was looking at the ride registrations on the Member Jungle App and only 6 people had registered for the ride to the Redesdale Pub. Sunday’s ride was only two days away. An email was sent out and soon the numbers jumped up to 10… Then by Saturday Morning the numbers hit 12, with a couple of riders explaining they would join the group in Yea.
There was some confusion about the departure time from BP in Epping, was it 9 or 9:30? The Captain decided to split the difference and the group left at 9:15 with Garry at the front and Ved acting as Tail End Charlie.
The weather on the Sunday morning was perfect and as the 12 riders from Epping entered Yea around 10:45, Barend was there to capture them on film.
Parked outside Marmalades for the coffee stop were more riders, bringing the total to somewhere around 25. The group left Yea around 11:15 headed for Seymour, Tooborac and Heathcote.
By the time we all found our way through the potholes, flood clean up, the fallen trees along the way and arrived at the Redesdale Pub there must have been almost 30 people enjoying the food, drinks and camaraderie in the shade outside the Redesdale Pub. The pub only had a single till so our meals were ordered with the usual confusion. Did I order the schnitzel or the parma? Was it a full serve of just half… ? Did I have chips or salad? Eventually every one received their meals, The food was great and the portion sizes were huge.
We lost Keir somewhere along the way near Heathcote with a massive rear tyre blowout. Thanks to Brian and Rowan he was able to get a new tyre in Castlemaine and was last seen heading home on Sunday morning.
In keeping with the usual MGCoV tradition, riders made their own way home.
Ved was seen stopped by the roadside on the way home, but he gave the thumbs up signal as others passed. His fuel warning light had come on and he headed back towards Romsey to find petrol.
One rider made a stop at the town hall in Glenburn to rest his sore buttocks. Across the road a lady came out of her house and gave him the thumbs up sign and indicated the beer was cold. This turned out to be Maz and her husband Ed. They sat on the front porch, compared motorcycles and chatted for a while before the rider finished his ride home. In total around 500 KM for the day.
Thank you to Garry - Ride Captain and Ved - Tail End Charlie.
